Mike's Fish Tanks

 Hello visitor, my name is Mike, and I currently live in Denver, Colorado. I'm 41 years old, and I'm addicted to the aquarium hobby; As the old saying goes "Sometimes you have a hobby, and sometimes the hobby has you!!!"

 

 I have over 30 years of personal experience in the aquarium hobby, with most of it spent with New World Cichlids. I started off in this amazing hobby at the age of 10 helping my grandmother with her Guppy tanks, then I moved on to helping my uncle with his Cichlid tanks, and I finally got my first aquarium. It was a 29 gallon Piranha tank, yes the first fish I started keeping was a 4" Red Belly Piranha.

 

 Since then I've moved on to bigger & better tanks, bigger & more aggressive fish, and explored other sides of the fish keeping hobby. I've had saltwater tanks, planted tanks, and many cichlid tanks. I must say that my favorite side of this hobby has to be the planted tank side, I just love the different layouts that are possible with planted tanks. Over the many years of being in the aquarium hobby I've learned a lot, and continue to learn each and every day. This hobby is just so unique with the many species of fish in the world, new and different styles of equipment always being introduced, and the styles and size of aquariums that are possible.
